Nation Hall

Dallas Baptist University has been blessed with a beautiful campus. One of the features of University Hill is our buildings, many of which are modeled after traditional Colonial architecture. Right now we are doing a short blog series highlighting a few of the buildings on the DBU campus. Be sure to check out all of our blogs about our campus as we release them in the coming weeks!

Jim and Sally Nation Hall is one of our newest additions to the DBU campus. Modeled after Monticello, Thomas Jefferson’s home, this building is one of the most fascinating and unique buildings on campus. It is located right next to the Pilgrim Chapel overlooking Swan Lake, and can be seen from the main entrance.

Nation Hall was built to house the Gary Cook Graduate School of Leadership. The Central Hall and Grand Hall offer space for receptions, banquets, and other formal events. The building houses a harp, grand piano, and harpsichord on the main floor. Upstairs there is a balcony overlooking the main floor and a large classroom inside the dome. Meeting rooms, administrative support office space, faculty offices, student study and reading areas, and specialty collection academic libraries are dispersed throughout Nation Hall, and the porticos, terraces, and garden areas around the building will be used for all kinds of student activities and outdoor events held at DBU.

Just as Thomas Jefferson designed Monticello to be a place for personal restoration, retreat, and learning, and Nation Hall replicates this by offering DBU students an environment in which mental and spiritual growth is encouraged and promoted. The training and raising up of servant leaders that will come out of this architectural masterpiece will impact many generations to come. If you have not yet taken a walk through this new addition to DBU, I definitely encourage you to take the time to do so.

The DBU campus is constantly growing and expanding to make room for our growing number of students and the changing needs of the university, and everyone is so excited about this addition to our ever-growing campus. This is certainly an exciting time to be a student at Dallas Baptist University!
