Jeannette Eubanks

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

This verse has held particular significance for DBU student Jeannette Eubanks. Jeannette’s decision to come to DBU was not a simple one, but she took great comfort in knowing that God had a perfect plan for her life.

Jeannette attended Grace Preparatory Academy in Arlington, Texas. A talented athlete, Jeannette participated in sports year round, playing volleyball and running track. Jeannette hoped to continue playing sports in college, but the Lord had other plans.

“God kept closing doors for the opportunity to play and opening doors for DBU,” she says. “After witnessing the experience my older brother, Will Eubanks, had at DBU…I quickly began to realize that DBU was right where God wanted me.”

Where One Door Closes, Another Opens

However, like many students, Jeannette’s decision on which college to attend was heavily influenced by financial considerations – she would not have been able to attend DBU without scholarship assistance.

She acknowledged that making decisions for her future was stressful, but during the process she leaned heavily on the Lord’s promise to guard her heart and mind during the admissions process and relied on His provision to make His way open to her.

Psalm 37:4 states, “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart,” and Jeannette’s faith saw tangible results.

“DBU is so good to provide multiple scholarship opportunities to students….that was definitely the case for me. I would not be at DBU without the scholarships I am so blessed to receive.”

Headed in the Lord’s Direction

Now a sophomore, Jeannette is working toward her BBA in marketing and highly involved with Alpha Delta Kappa, a service and social sorority that focuses on aiding local children in need.

Although she has considered earning an MBA or a law degree after obtaining her undergraduate diploma, Jeannette is not entirely sure where the Lord will lead her in the years to come. However, her experience at DBU has been a powerful reminder that the Lord will direct her steps.

Jeannette will continue to trust His guidance; she knows that “God is so faithful to provide, and He continues to prove that over and over again.”
